Dare to Dream with York Stage School!
This July, York Stage School is excited to share the revival of our highly popular Summer School programme.
This year, our "Show in a Week" project is set to reach new heights with a thrilling new format. We will take the stage at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, presenting four public performances of an exciting new Disney musical.

about the show
Disney’s Dare to Dream JR. is a 60-minute musical revue that follows an eager group of trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio. As the group sets out to help each other discover their dreams, they work together to explore the power of dreams to unite, inspire, and make anything possible.
Drawing from a century of beloved Disney films, Dare to Dream JR. features songs appearing for the first time ever in a Disney stage musical, including fan-favorites from The Princess and the Frog, Coco, Encanto, and Frozen II. This musical revue is a thrilling mix of contemporary songs, timeless classics, and brand-new medleys that are sure to surprise and delight Disney lovers of all ages.
Designed specifically for today’s young performers and full of opportunities for ensembles big and small, Dare to Dream JR. turns a century of Disney magic into a theatrical celebration of music, creativity, and the dreams that live inside us all.
The programme is scheduled from Monday, July 28, to Saturday, August 2, at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, requiring daily attendance. Hours are Monday-Thursday from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Performers aged 7 to 18 can participate, with a limit of 50 spaces. Due to high demand, an audition may be required to secure a spot.
This year, for those young creatives who love theatre but are looking for an opportunity to explore what goes on behind the scenes, we are offering them the chance to take part in the programme and learn all about the backstage magic, with daily workshops in lighting, sound, set, costumes and props.
Public performances are scheduled for Friday, August 1st at 5pm and 7pm, and Saturday, August 2nd at 2pm and 4pm.
The fee for the entire week is £200 per child, and we provide a 10% discount for siblings enrolling. To secure your child's spot, a £75 deposit is required at the time of registration. Public tickets will be available for purchase through the Joseph Rowntree box office, priced at £20 each.
